WALKING THE PROSECCO HILLS 2017March 24th - March 28th

A 4-night, 5-day walking break exploring the Prosecco vineyards and hills on the occasion of the annual Prosecco fair: accessible and varied hill and mountain walking with a gastronomic and wine theme.
Day 1 - After an 11 am pick up at Venice Marco Polo airport/Venice Mestre train station we drive to our hotel in a panoramic historic residence, in pretty Cison di Valmarino (4 nights, 1 hour drive) in the Alpine foothills for a simple lunch and a chance to look around the village of Follina and its interesting abbey. Dinner in the restaurant of the hotel.
Day 2 - A short drive takes us to the Prosecco vineyards for an up and down circular walk on comfortable paths with pretty views of the famed Cartizze wine area and a Prosecco tasting and restaurant lunch en route (8 km/5 miles, 4.5 hours). Dinner at the fair.
Day 3 - We drive to the panoramic high hills above the village to 1200 metres for a walk in the Monte Cesena area (10 km/8miles, 5 hours) before returning to the valley for a tasting at an award winning local producer before exploring the events of the local Prosecco fair. Prosecco menu at a local restaurant.
Day 4 - This morning we drive over to Lago di Santa Croce for a pretty lake view walk (8 km/5 miles, 4 hours) before a tasting of the interesting red wines of the Treviso hills and another delicious meal in the restaurant of hotel, Sansovino.
Day 5 - Return to Venice airport/Venice Mestre train station (1 hour)
- Hotel Castelbrando - an elegant 4 star hotel with a renowned restaurant (4 nights)
WHAT IS INCLUDED: lunches - ranging from mountain refuges and dairies to local delicacies en route - and dinners are included throughout. Two experienced tour consultants will look after your every need. Transport will be in minibuses and can be used as an alternative to walking where appropriate.

As an Oxford history graduate she has a special interest in the history of the Dolomites in general and of the First World War Dolomite Front in particular. Anna Vecellio del Monego
Born and raised in the area, Anna Vecellio del Monego knows the Dolomites, its footpaths and its hotels and restaurants intimately. She has wide ranging experience in organising and leading small group walking holidays with a top UK company and after many years working in hospitality and tourism in general she is now a really passionate holiday organiser 'insider'. A graduate of Verona University in languages and Tourism Management she has travelled and walked all over the world. She is currently a busy Deputy Mayor, looking after her home town. She is a certified Middle Mountain Guide of the Veneto Alpine Guide Association.
