PANORAMIC CIRCUIT OF CORTINA D'AMPEZZO 2017July 16th - July 23rd

A spectacular week-long circuit starting and finishing in pretty Cortina d’Ampezzo on high mountain trails through Alpine pastures, forests and passes with views of some of the most famous pinnacles and spires of the Dolomites.
A continuous walking route which gives you the Alpine high route experience with modest ups and downs and staying in comfortable hotels.
Day 1 - Pick up at Venice Marco Polo airport/Venice Mestre train station at 1 pm for a lunch snack and a 2.5 hour drive to pretty Cortina.
Day 2 - We walk directly out of Cortina through meadows and forests and up on high mountain paths to our first panoramic Dolomite col at 2000 metres/6560 ft (ski lift option available) on a tiny Alpine lake before continuing on well-made paths to Ospitale and shuttling back to Cortina for the night (10 minutes). (12 km/8 miles, 7 hrs). Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 3 - Shuttle back to Ospitale and then a section of cycle path before a dramatic ascent through a rocky gorge brings us out at over 2000 metres/6560 ft once again on the bucolic high pastures of Pratopiazza for lunch in a mountain refuge and our next hotel on a beautiful high plateau (7.5 km/4.5 miles, 3.5 hrs). Optional afternoon walk on the plateau and dinner in the hotel.
Day 4 - Climb up to the edge of the plateau before descending gradually on well-made paths of World War One interest with beautiful views of Dolomite peaks and the Austrian Alps to the Landro Valley for a picnic lunch before climbing up once more along the Rienza river valley and down briefly to the tiny hamlet of Misurina and its lake (17 km/11 miles, 8 hrs) to our hotel hotel in Misurina (2 nights). Dinner in a family-run mountain dairy.
Day 5 - A short drive takes us to the most famous walk in the Dolomites, the spectacular, highly panoramic circuit of the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo (8 km/5 miles, 4.5 hrs). Dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 6 - A pretty wooded climb to the base of the beautiful pinnacled Cadini mountains (ski lift option available) takes us to a panoramic high military track and lunch at a mountain refuge. We then descend through pastures and forests to our next overnight stay at a small family-run hotel (15 km/9 miles, 5 hrs).
Day 7 - We return to Cortina through the serene open pastures of Val Bona and dappled larch forests, climbing initially to Passo Tre Croci and a lunch of local specialities before traversing the Faloria massif with beautiful views over the Cortina bowl and down to the town itself through forests and hamlets to Cortina again (15 km/9 miles, 6 hrs). Dinner in the renowned Michelin starred restaurant Tivoli.
Day 8 - A 2.5 hour drive takes us back to Venice airport/Venice Mestre train station.
- Hotel Ancora, Cortina - a stylish hotel right in the middle of Cortina with individually furnished Tyrolean style rooms and an excellent restaurant (3 nights - first, second and last)
- Hotel Hohe Gaisl, Pratopiazza - exceptional, high plateau position, health centre and comfortable rooms (1 night)
- Quinz Locanda al Lago, Misurina - a small family run hotel on the lake (2 nights)
- Hotel Cristallo, Auronzo di Cadore - simple, 2 star style family run hotel with good food (1 night)
WHAT IS INCLUDED: lunches - ranging from mountain refuges and dairies to local delicacies en route - and dinners are included throughout. Two experienced tour consultants will look after your every need. Transport will be in minibuses and can be used as an alternative to walking where appropriate.

Anna Vecellio del Monego
Born and raised in the area, Anna Vecellio del Monego knows the Dolomites, its footpaths and its hotels and restaurants intimately. She has wide ranging experience in organising and leading small group walking holidays with a top UK company and after many years working in hospitality and tourism in general she is now a really passionate holiday organiser 'insider'. A graduate of Verona University in languages and Tourism Management she has travelled and walked all over the world. She is currently a busy Deputy Mayor, looking after her home town. She is a certified Middle Mountain Guide of the Veneto Alpine Guide Association.
